Active training for squads
(Colombo Lankapuvath) Active training for squads taking part at International sports festivals would be conducted for 365 days, the Ministry of Sports said.
The year long training would be conducted for 15 selected sports in the country, Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said addressing a sports equipment distribution ceremony yesterday. Earlier training sessions were limited for 30-40 days, he added.

Participants at 13th World Athletic Championships
(Colombo Lankapuvath) Two Sri Lankan athletes, Chaminda Wijekoon and Christine Sonali Meril would be competing at the 13th World Athletic Championships to be held in Daegu, South Korea.
Chaminda won the bronze medal at the recent Asian Games in the 1500 m event while Christine won a bronze medal in the 400 m Hurdles in the same games.
