(Colombo-Lankapuvath) Dramatizing crimes in news telecasts in some television channels has radically affected in the increase of crimes in society, said the Deputy Solicitor General of the Attorney-General’s Department, Mr. Sarath Jayamanne.
He made this observation conjoining a media workshop organized by the National Child Protection Authority.

23 persons killed in accidents and killings
(Colombo-Lankapuvath) Police stated that 23 persons were reportedly killed in accidents and murders during the New Year season.
These deaths were reported on April 13, 14 and 15.
13 fatal accidents were reported and 15 persons were dead, police reported.
Meanwhile, 08 human killing by clashes and 550 of drunken driving incidents were reported.
Commission of Inquiry on Matale mass grave issue
(Colombo Lankapuvath) President Mahinda Rajapaksa will shortly appoint a Commission of Inquiry into the detection of a mass grave at the Matale Hospital premises last November.
Over 150 skeletal remains were unearthed from the location and forensic experts claimed the grave could be between 1986-90 period.
IGP Public Day province wise
(Colombo-Lankapuvath) Measures have been taken to hold the Police IG Public Day which is held every Friday (except poya days and public holidays) province wise, said the Police Media Unit.
The decision is taken to avoid the inconveniences faced by the people coming to Colombo from all parts of the country, said the Police Media Spokesman SSP Buddhika Siriwardhana.
NCPA wants all tsunami children registered
(Colombo-Lankapuvath) The National Child Protection Authority requests the children and youth who have not been registered at the authority under the Tsunami Act to get registered with immediate effect.
Children and youth who lost both their parents, one parent, the living parent incapable of looking after the children, and any child or youth who needs protection can be registered at the Child Protection Authority.
The responsibility of the registered children and youth is taken by the authority.
50,000 visit Deyata Kirula on Sunday
