(Colombo Lankapuvath) Necessary data to conduct DNA tests on the skeletons that were found from Pahiyangala are now being gathered, the Deputy Director of Archaeology (excavations) Dr Nimal Perera said.
This is the first time that D N A tests would be done on skeletons ( ), and the tests are expected to reveal several historical details, he added.
The necessary measures are taken by Dr J Stock from Cambridge University UK and the officials of the Archaeology department.
The remains of a human found at pahiyangala is the one and only complete skeleton found in South Asian and is estimated to be over 37,000 years old.
