No seat belts caused accident on Southern Highway

(Colombo-Lankapuvath) It has been revealed that the cause behind the fatal accident on the Southern Expressway was not wearing seat belts, said the Police.

The first death on the Southern Expressway occurred yesterday (03) dawn.

The accident occurred when the car heading to Colombo from Galle ran off the road at the 21st Mile post area in Kalutara North as the driver was unable to control the speed. The driver who was not wearing the seat belt, had been thrown out of the vehicle, said Police Media Spokesman, SSP Ajith Rohana.

The victim, Arosha Yeshan Cooray, a former Debate-captain of the Ananda College in 2005, was a 25 year old youth.
