(Colombo-Lankapuvath) Luke Bronin, the US Deputy Assistant Treasury Secretary for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes met with Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Sri Lanka, at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Colombo . Bronin, who briefed Minister Bathiudeen on the US sanctions on Iran, was visiting Sri Lanka leading a four man delegation to Colombo.
“30 years of war in Sri Lanka has hindered our economy making people suffer. Sri Lankans are now waking upto a normal life looking forward to a brighter future. Our government is now working towards achieving this objective under the visionary leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa” briefed Minister Bathiudeen. Both Minister Bathiudeen and Deputy Assistant Treasury Secretary Bronin also discussed about the need for increased collaborative efforts in trade engagements between both countries.
