Disaster Management Ministry launches special mission for dengue eradication

(Colombo Lankapuvath) A special mission to prevent dengue will be launched by the Ministry of Disaster Management from today (03).

Accordingly, the Colombo Municipal Council will be divided into 8 divisions to conduct the cleaning program, Chief Medical Officer of CMC, Pradeep Kariyawasam said. Checking and cleaning gardens and areas prone for dengue breeding in the Colombo areas will be done by the Ministry.

Minister of Disaster Management, Mahinda Amaraweera has decided to consider Dengue as an emergency and will be dealt with accordingly.

Dengue prevention programs will be held countrywide, the Ministry added.
