Brothel raided in Kegalle

(Colombo Lankapuvath)Police raided a brothel in Beragala,Kegalle and arrested three women and men yesterday.

They said the women were aged between 19 and 30 and were residents of Akuressa,Dolapihilla and Kosgoda areas.

All six suspects were expected to be produced in courts yesterday.

Earth Hour celebrations on March 23

(Colombo-Lankapuvath) Earth Hour will be celebrated on March 23rd from 08:30 p.m. to 09:30 p.m., said the Western Provincial Minister of Environment, Udaya Gammanpila.
 
The Earth Hour is commemorated with the objectives of raising awareness on the increase of global warming and lining up the public for the control of fossil fuel combustion.

Govt.cannot take Halal responsibility-Media Minister

(Colombo-Lankapuvath) Media Minister,Keheliya Rambukwella told journalists yesterday in Colombo that the government could not accept the responsibility of issuing Halal certificates.

He said the government did not wish to engage itself in religious policy issues.

Two Indian tourists nabbed while working

(Colombo-Lankapuvath)   Two Indians were arrested by Akkaraipattu police for engaging in agriculture while staying on tourist visa at Thinaaru area, Akkaraipattu Police reported.
The suspects were to be produced to the Akkaraipattu court yesterday (28) and the police are conducting investigations.
